Site Management Safety Training Scheme (2-Day Refresher)

Course description

A refresher course for Directors, Managers and supervisors who have attended the five-day Site Management Safety Training Scheme course since 01 January 2001.

Aim and objectives of the course

To bring existing holders of the construction SMSTS certificate up to date with new legislation, including codes of practice, British Standards and industry best-working practices that have changed since they last qualified.

Course content

  • Review of legislation & recent health and safety prosecutions
  • Disability discrimination regulation
  • Working time (amendment) regulations 2003
  • Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 & Waste Management.
  • Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2002.
  • Fire on construction sites.
  • Behavioural science & motivational aspects.
  • Right to time off for study or training regulations 2001& general training requirements.
  • Construction (Design & Management) (Amendment) Regulations 2000
  • Employment of young people.
  • Protection of the public.
  • New European developments & new working practices

Course assessment

The delegates performance will be assessed by their response to verbal questions throughout the course.  A written exam paper will to be taken which will require an 80% pass mark.

Course venue

This course can be run on the clients’ premises, sites, or at an arranged venue.
